Dean Basile

Managing Director – Melbourne, Australia

Dean Basile has over 24 years of experience in the mining industry and over 16 years of experience at a management level and is the Managing Director of Mining One.

His career began at Kalgoorlie Consolidated Gold Mines in Western Australia and he has worked at senior and mine management levels in Ghana and Peru, mainly covering surface mining techniques as well as extensive experience in long-term and strategic planning of gold and copper mines.

Dean has conducted work on and managed various feasibility studies; as well as the implementation of mining fleets at two green field operations. Dean has an intermediate level of written and spoken Spanish.

Gary Davison

Director / Principal Mining Engineer – Melbourne, Australia

Gary Davison has over 40 years of experience in the Australian Mining Industry. His career began at Renison, Tasmania, in 1978 and has worked at senior mine management levels in Tasmania, Western Australia, Victoria and New South Wales covering underground and surface mining techniques.

As well as a practical, hands-on approach, Gary has worked for a variety of clients including lawyers on expert witness cases, merchant banks conducting a high number of due diligence examinations and many other feasibility studies. He has extensive experience in Australian and overseas. He has worked on mines and mining prospects and underground mines within the production range of 50,000 – 10,000,000 tonnes per annum.

Gary is highly innovative in many areas having developed unique mine designs and infrastructure for difficult mines and he has a particular passion for ground support and improving the safety and efficiency of underground mining. Gary has successfully patented a variety of rock bolts, many of which are commercially available selling over 1.5 million units, worldwide. He has a number of other patents pending.

Gary has written and presented a variety of papers on mining topics. He has visited mine sites and conducted work in Indonesia, Canada, Finland, UK, Sweden, Ghana, Central and South America, and China, as well all states and territories in Australia.

Gary is one of the founders/Directors of Mining One Pty Ltd in Melbourne, Australia and was Managing Director from 2005-2023 and his private Rock Bolt Technology firm, Gazmick Pty Ltd. He was a Non-Executive Director at Unity Mining Limited joining them in 2013 and has previously held Non Executive Directorships for Kasbah Resources Ltd and Lightning Nickel Pty Ltd., the nickel operating arm of Independence Group NL.

Gary is also the Managing Director of the Mining Motor Company Pty Ltd which is developing variable speed electric motors for mining operations.

Lyn Stribley

Director / Global Business Development Manager – Melbourne, Australia

Lyn started her career in the mining industry over 38 years ago. She began work as a metallurgical clerk and laboratory assistant doing flotation test work for Aberfoyle Tin at Luina, Tasmania. Lyn progressed to working for Mine Managers as a confidential Secretary, assisting in administration and HR.

After developing a strong administration background, she moved into project management working closely with clients and building client relationships. Finding this was her strength and with her knowledge of the mining industry she progressed into business development.

Lyn was a founding member of Mining One working on the business plan and cost analysis that helped start the successful business that it is today. She has successfully grown the Mining One brand both in Australia and overseas. Her strong business acumen has enabled her to secure project leads worldwide, hence obtaining a wide range of diversified projects in many countries for the Mining One business.

Ievan Ludjio

Principal Mining Engineer (Australia/Indonesia) / SE Asia Regional Manager – Jakarta, Indonesia

Ievan has over 20 years of experience in the mining industry. He has undertaken a wide variety of roles within various technical teams including short/medium/long term planning engineering roles and production engineering roles. Ievan also has extensive experience on a variety of projects and has been involved in the various study phases from concept study to feasibility study to project implementation for various commodities such as coal, gold, silver, copper, iron ore, tin, limestone, phosphate and rare earth minerals in various countries.

Ievan has a sound understanding of computerised 3D design work, dragline and truck shovel operation, mine scheduling, budgeting, pit optimisation and cost modelling. Ievan is well versed in various mining software packages, including Minex, Minescape, Surpac, Whittle, Vulcan, XPAC, 3D Dig and Talpac. Ievan is a Chartered Professional (Mining) and Member of AusiMM as well as Registered Professional Engineer of Queensland (RPEQ) and sits on the Mining One Board

Marcus Jacobs

General Manager WA/Principal Mining Engineer – Perth, Australia

Marcus Jacobs has over 20 years of experience in operational mines, engineering studies and business consulting roles.

He started his career in open cut gold and iron ore mines in Western Australia, and in his career has had exposure to a number of commodities including: gold, iron ore, limestone, copper, lithium and tantalum.

He is a skilled project and study manager; providing leadership and coaching to achieve safety performance, schedule and budget targets.

Marcus is a Member of the Australasian Institute of Mining and Metallurgy (MAusIMM) and holds a Western Australian Quarry Manager’s Certificate of Competency.

Mike Botting

GM Underground Technical Lead, WA – Perth, Australia

Mike holds a Bachelor of Engineering (Mining) from the South Australian Institute of Technology (University of South Australia), a Western Australian First Class Mine Manager Certificate and NSW Mining Engineering Manager of Underground Mines Practising Certificate.

Mike has extensive operational, technical and management experience working with mine owners, consultants and mining contractors over the course of his career.

Mike has experience in a variety of hard rock mining methods ranging from narrow view open stoping, modified Avoca, cut and fill, room and pillar through to caving methods.

Mike has been involved in project feasibility studies and has successfully implemented both technical and operational business improvement initiatives.

Mike is well versed in first principle costing for underground mines, performance expectations, improving mine designs and schedules to improve efficiency and reduce costs.

Darryl Dyason

Mining Manager, Underground – Melbourne, Australia

Darryl is an experienced Mining Engineer with over 24 years’ experience in the industry. He has worked on various project around Australia as well as Indonesia.

Darryl has managed all aspects of technical services and planning both in open pit and underground operations.

He is skilled in mine planning, drill and blast, ventilation, LoM designs, feasibility studies, Geotech, QA/QC, projects and surveying.

Darryl is also proficient in using mine planning software.

Cameron Farrington

Principal Mining Engineer – Melbourne, Australia

Cameron is a Principal Mining Engineer who has a diverse background in mining. With over 20 years of experience as a mining professional, Cameron has become an effective leader in both operational and technical roles across a broad spectrum of commodities including Copper, Iron Ore, Gold, Diamonds and Coal.

Cameron holds an engineering degree as well as an MBA in finance which is supported by experiences ranging from Mining Engineer to front line management including his legislatively appointed role as the site SSE.

His skills and experience provide the ability to be an effective workforce leader as well as the ability to develop, implement and effect site safety management systems to establish a productive safety culture.

Cameron is a chartered professional of the Australasian Institute of Mining and Metallurgy (AusIMM (CP)).

Joseph Tachie-Menson

Principal Mining Engineer – Melbourne, Australia

Joseph is a Principal Mining Engineer with technical and operational expertise having worked in multinational organisations over the past 23 years.

Joseph’s experience includes equipment operation, fleet management, mine planning, business improvement, mine supervision, contract administration, and mine management. Expertise also covers mine financial modelling/costing, enterprise optimisation, explosives management, asset management and management of Tailings Storage Facilities. He has been involved in various feasibility studies.

Joseph is an efficient user of various mine packages including Minemax, Surpac, Talpac, XPac, Xeras, MineSched, Whittle, ArcGIS, Modular Mining and MineStar, Vulcan and Alastri.

Joseph holds a Bachelor of Engineering degree in Mining and is a Chartered Professional of AusIMM and a member of SME. He is currently pursuing a Master of Business Administration degree at the Melbourne School of Business.

Remon Sinaga

SE Asia Regional Manager/Principal Mining Engineer – Jakarta, Indonesia

Remon has over 19 years of industry experience as a Mining Engineer and has spent 8 years working in Australia and another 11 years in Indonesia. During that time, he has worked in open pit coal and gold mining, as a mining consultant and for a blast service company in various areas from upstream to downstream mining chains.

Remon has a solid knowledge of mining coupled with a strong commercial acumen and has been involved in many critical project implementations. He is familiar with recent end to end digital solutions in mining industries and the dynamic markets.

Remon is efficient with mining software packages, mining cost models, cash flows and financial reporting.

Stephen Manning

Principal Mining Engineer – Melbourne, Australia

Stephen is an experienced Principal Mining Engineer with 24 years of experience particularly in underground mine design and planning.

His experience covers all aspects of underground mine design and scheduling, stope design / optimisation and drill and blast design and mine cost / financial modelling.

He has a high level of proficiency in Deswik mining software, including Mineable Shape Optimiser (MSO), and experience with other mining software (Maptek Vulcan, Datamine, EPS).

Stephen has been involved with reserve estimation work, scoping studies, pre-feasibility and feasibility studies as well as multiple, operations-based mining engineer roles.

Seen Lee

Seen has fifteen years of experience in the mining industry, with experience from greenfields pre production sites through to fully operational mining operations.

Seen’s multi disciplinary background in geology and geotechnical engineering allow for seamless communication within projects.

Seen’s core competencies include open pit medium to long term project investigations and evaluations, with particular expertise in pit optimisation, ground modelling and design.

Phelan Trinh

Phelan has more than eight years in the mining industry with expertise in pit optimisation, mine design and scheduling, cost estimation, and financial modelling.

His operational experience includes all facets of Production Engineering with core competencies in drill & blast and short / medium term mine scheduling.

Phelan is a well-rounded engineer having worked in a number of commodities including gold, silver, copper, tin and iron ore.

His core competency has been in the area of Mine Planning and Evaluation Lead on feasibility and Life of Asset planning studies.

Chico Wall

Senior Mining Engineer – Melbourne, Australia

Chico has over 14 years of experience in underground mine planning and mining operations, he regards himself privileged to have been exposed to and experienced many facets of the industry.

Through his time in the industry, he has developed a passion and capabilities for high-level strategic planning, including Cut-off Grade calculations, Reserves calculations and reporting in compliance with the JORC Code.

To compliment this, he has a broad range of UG Ventilation experience from planning and modelling to operating chiller systems and managing ventilation project setups both on surface and underground.

Throughout his career, he has also gained a diverse operational experience, from operating various large machinery to managing contracts and contractors.

The above passion for mining stems from his agriculture upbringing. Not long into his mining career, he came to learn that mining and farming are quite similar. Each requires a high level of awareness towards safety, a multi skilled work force/support network and the ability to be dynamic for ever changing environments, all to achieve an attractive product.

Michelle Xu

Senior Open Pit Mining Engineer – Melbourne, Australia

Michelle has over 10 years of industry experience, with expertise in 3D mine design and planning.

Michelle has assisted in completing numerous mining projects in Australia and China, as well as conducting Surpac training courses for various mining companies.

After joining Mining One, she has been involved in a number of prefeasibility, feasibility studies and Life of Asset planning.

She is a competent user of Surpac, MineSched, Whittle, Deswik, and Minemax Scheduler and a basic user of Minex and Datamine. Those tools give her flexibility in achieving high efficiency and enable her to find better solutions when conducting pit optimisation, mine design, mining and blending scheduling.

She is also fluent in English and is a native Chinese speaker.

Tegar Ksatria

Tegar is an experienced mining engineer with over 10 years of work in both national and international mining industries, covering copper, gold, and coal projects.

Skilled in underground mine planning, production optimization, risk management, and cross-disciplinary coordination (geology, geotechnics, hydrology, and environment).

Thomas Indrawijaya

Senior Mining Engineer – Melbourne, Australia

Thomas is a Senior Mining Engineer with over thirteen (13) years of experience in open pit mining with exposure in various projects and operations.

Thomas has been involved in a number of mining studies across a broad spectrum of commodities such as coal, gold, copper, iron ore, and quarry.

He has developed a strong knowledge of open pit mining including mine planning (short/medium/long and Life of Asset Planning), strategic planning and pit continuation project, pt and dump designs, pit optimisation, mine scheduling, fleet selection, haul road modelling and analysis, production reporting, project cost analysis, financial modelling, and technical reporting. Mwenzi Lungu

A dedicated mining engineer with over eight years of hand on experience in the mining industry in both operational and corporate roles, specialising in the optimisation of efficient mine design and planning from short term to life of asset.

Bakhtawar is a Mining Engineer with over 6 years of experience as a technical services professional across underground gold mining and mineral sands mining.

Through her experience, Bakhtawar has acquired proficiency in the use of mining software: Deswik Suite, Datamine Aegis, Surpac, Ventsim and MS Office suite and worked as an effective team member and team leader applying excellent communication, problem solving and organization skills.

Gloria Asamoah

Gloria is a Mining Engineer with in-depth knowledge of and hands-on experience in surface mine planning and operations, and underground mine operations, with over ten years of working experience.

She has expertise in the use of specialised software for mine scheduling, mine design, mine optimisation, and mine operations (drill and blast, load and haul, and dispatch).

Gloria has skills in business improvement, project evaluation, economic analysis of mine design, mine safety and reporting. She is a great team player and highly goal oriented.

Gloria has expanded her metallurgical knowledge by working with a mineral processing consulting firm, giving her greater understanding of whole plant planning, metal extraction and optimisation for higher returns.

Benjamin James

Benjamin has 13 years’ experience in the hard rock underground industry, predominantly in the gold sector. 10 years associated with open stoping, 1 year bulk underground mining and 2 years with early-stage project development.

Ross Dickinson

Mining Engineer – Perth, Australia

Ross is a Mining Engineer with over 7 years of experience in production and technical services in underground mining operations and SBR shaft sinking.

He has an aptitude for technical and analytical tasks, with drive and attention to detail.

Ross is a good communicator, also capable of leading production teams with the goal of improving safety, well-being, and productivity.

Ning Xu

Underground Mining Engineer – Canada

Ning is a results-oriented underground mining engineer with P.Eng (registered with Professional Engineers Ontario), specializing in hard rock underground mining across diverse commodities.

With hands-on experience at multiple mine sites, she has developed extensive expertise in underground operations.

Since joining Mining One, she has contributed to projects such as Pre-Feasibility Studies (PFS), Feasibility Studies (FS), scoping studies, and due diligence assessments etc.

Ning has developed a level of proficiency in a range of mine planning software, including Deswik, Amine, and Promine. She also has exposure to Datamine, Aegis, WaveView, Shotplus, Ventsim, and Whittle, enabling her to deliver efficient and data-driven solutions for mine design and scheduling.

Volga Massang

Mining Engineer – Jakarta, Indonesia

Volga is a Mining Engineer with 6 years of experience in open pit mining, particularly in gold and copper commodities.

Strong background in short/medium term mine planning/scheduling, pit & dump design, dry-wet season outpit project, mine production and reporting.

Volga also has experience in mining contractor supervision.

Qualifications include proficient in operating software Surpac, AutoCAD, MineSched, MineSight.

Zola Munkhbat

Mining Engineer – Melbourne, Australia

Zola is a mining engineer and qualified mine surveyor with over six years of operational and technical experience.

She was involved in several feasibility studies in Mongolia, performing cost and cashflow models.

At Mining One, Zola has focused her efforts on pit optimisations, mine design and scheduling and block model manipulation.

Zola is an efficient user of various computer packages including Micromine, Minesight and Surpac. She is also a competent user of RocSience 2D slope stability analysis tools.

Zola obtained her master’s degree in mining engineering technology at Federation University Australia, specialising slope stability investigation.

Brett Cosgriff

Mining Engineer – Melbourne, Australia

Brett is an underground mining engineer with 7 years of experience in underground metal mines throughout Queensland, Western Australia and Victoria.

Brett has strong operational experience, having completed underground time on crew for 14 months in pursuit of an Underground Mine Manager’s Ticket as well as 6 months as an underground shift boss.

Brett is experienced in most facets of mining engineering, including drill and blast, long and short-term scheduling, ventilation, backfill, and risk assessment.

Edward Cooke

Geotechnical Engineer – Melbourne, Australia

Edward studied MSc Mining Engineering at the Camborne School of Mines and also holds a bachelor’s in Geology. His education has included subjects such as Excavation and Geomechanics; Mine Design and Planning; Project Management; Advanced Structural Geology; and Engineering Geology. For his dissertation, Edward produced a preliminary economic assessment of a zinc-lead orebody, involving underground geotechnical analysis, cut-off grade optimisation, design work in Deswik and cash flow analysis.

James French

Manager, Geotechnical – Sydney, Australia

James is a motivated mining professional with diverse operations and project development experience in Australia and overseas.

His 20 years’ experience includes delivery of early phase studies, planning & execution of development projects and management of operations.

He has had a broad exposure to surface and underground settings in hard and soft rock geology, including civil earthworks design and construction, across a range of commodities including gold, copper and zinc.

James’ exceptional work ethic, strong technical competencies and practical approach enable him to be a proactive and adaptable leader, who thrives in a team dynamic and promotes a strong performance culture aligned to business objectives and organisational values.

Kevin Dugan

Senior Principal Geotechnical Engineer – Melbourne, Australia

Kevin Dugan was one of Mining One’s founding directors and Senior Principal Geotechnical Engineer.

Kevin has over 45 years of experience throughout Australia and overseas, including 11 years at the Snowy Mountains Engineering Corporation (SMEC).

Tom has a strong foundation in advanced numerical modelling, characterising and monitoring the rock mass, and general geotechnical support for open pit and underground mines, quarries, and green field sites.

His work as a consultant focuses on rock mechanics, with experience in terrestrial LiDAR and drone-based photogrammetry, as well as both satellite radar data, offering solutions for both data collection and high-resolution remote monitoring.

Tom has worked throughout Eurasia, Africa and Australia and North America, directing geotechnical site investigations and collecting data. His office-based analytical analyses and numerical modelling of ground stability, provides mine design parameters during feasibility and mine optimisation studies.

Tom is also the agent for Cavroc in Europe and Africa.

Trent Jolly

Principal Process Engineer – Melbourne, Australia

Trent is an experienced Process Engineer with over 14 years in project delivery, process optimisation and operations improvement. He has held a variety of site-based and global consulting roles focused on driving optimisation and efficiency of processing plants.

He has extensive experience across a range of commodities and processes, including gold and base metals mineral processing and hydrometallurgy. This includes studies from scoping to feasibility study level, as well as delivery, commissioning and optimisation of site projects and initiatives.

He has a strong interest in data analytics and using data to inform process changes and benefit evaluations.

More recent expertise has been developed in large-scale international mining acquisitions including technical due diligence and valuations.

Proven capability in furnace and smelter operations, with expertise in plant monitoring, root cause analysis, and risk-based decision-making under MHF standards. Experienced in cross-functional collaboration across operations, safety, and engineering systems.
